Hammer's 4th Birthday

Hammer will be 4 years old tomorrow. We celebrated his birthday in advance as Mum and I will be flying to Japan tonight. As usual, Hammer party was at Pet Shangri-la and his brother from the same litter, Owen, shared the limelight and attention.

The whole family including mummy, my sister (Diana), my brother-in-law (Bernard) and my fiance (Kah Loong) turned up. Hammer had a great time with his brother and his friends. The party pack from US Doggy Bakery includes a Strawberry Pandan Cream Cake, Shepard's Pie, Meat Loaves and an assortment of Biscuits ('three bags full'). All the dogs enjoyed licking the fresh cream and munching on the yummy food. We had a happy time feeding the dogs and taking photos of them too.

Hammer received many birthday presents from mummy, my sister and I. We are so blessed to have Hammer in the family as he brings us so much joy. Hammer is sure one lucky dog and I will ensure that Hammer will have many more happy birthdays in the future. The next celebration to look out for will be the Christmas Party. Perhaps I will order a Christmas set from the usual shop. I may even learn to bake a cookie or too but that may be another story altogether. Keep a look out for my updates on the pets.

Hammer's Scruffy No More!

Hammer went for his grooming on Friday and had a barking good time with his friends at Pet Shangri-la. Apparently, he can be quite naughty there (according to a few witnesses who provided first hand accounts). Sometimes, I really wonder what he does there as he is a darling at home.

Check out Hammer's hairstyle. Does he look neater? I am waiting for his beard to grow longer. He looks cuter with one. This young dog has the 'Auntie killer look'. The moment aunties and grandmas look at him, they like him. He has this pensive and sensitive look that simply melts a person's heart. Mum has fallen for this trick many many times and has no qualms about letting him have that last egg yolk, the only drum stick and the remaining pork chop. He is a chick magnet too and I do have offers from male friends who want to volunteer to bring him to the park as they reckon that it's the best way to meet and talk to girls (chicks).

Hammer is due for his weekly bath tomorrow. As usual, I am the one responsible for this. Sometimes, my cat, Lollipop, stands outside the toilet to observe him being bathed. Bathing him is an expensive activity as his shampoo costs 3 to 4 times more than my own shampoo. Every time he bathes, I need to use whitening shampoo for his gray/silver parts, a different shampoo to maintain his dark coat, tearless shampoo for his face, tick and flea shampoo (every fortnightly) and an after bath conditioner. On top of that, I would apply a little leave-in conditioner while I am drying his fur which is followed by Cologne after that. It's expensive business, isn't it? :) Every cent is worth it because there is only 1 Hammer. My one and only Hammer. :)

Hammer lives in a flat with 2 cats. Nope, they don't mind him and the cats and dog live happily together.

This is a photo of Lollipop, Hammer's favourite cat. Both canine and feline love to play hide-and-seek and chase each other around the flat. In this photo, Lollipop was trying to squeeze into a basket which is half her size. Tells you about how determined this cat is....

This is Muffin, the world's greediest and naughtiest cat. Mum has to carry her while I took this photo as she simply refused to cooperate. She gets a kick from disturbing Hammer while he's asleep and pretending that nothing happened after that. Her claws are real sharp as she is too lazy even to file her nails at the scratching post!

Sometimes, I can't help but wonder if Hammer thinks he's a cat. I'll tell you why. He scratches the sofa like the cats, tries to eat the cats' food and behaves like them when he snuggles in or hugs my mum. Hammer loves his furry friends and all of them are well loved in this family.

Scruffy Hammer

Hammer is going for his regular grooming today. It is 2 weeks overdue and everyone is already commenting on how scruffy he looks. Frankly speaking, I think he looks cuter and more impish with this scruffy, bad-boy image.

Called Ashton, his favourite groomer at Pet Shangri-la, to tell her that that she has to shear Hammer as he looks more like a sheep than a dog. Perhaps I'll knit a sweater for Hammer using his 'wool'. :)

Ordering 100 pieces of dog chew bones today. Hammer needs his daily fix of 1 bone a day. Mum feeds Hammer egg-yolks and pork liver at times, something that I am glad to give away too. I just wish that my mum doesn't overfeed Hammer too often as he is getting 'a tad too fat'.

Hammer as a Mandarin Dog.....
This is Hammer's costume for the Chinese New Year and auspicious occasions. He is cute when he wears the mandarin cap, especially so when he shows off the pig-tail.

Hammer as a Japanese Geisha (Gay-sha)....

The moment I saw this yukata in one of the shops, I knew I had to get it. This is the perfect colour for Hammer. I have since learned to sew kiminos and Hammer has 2 of that too.

Hammer has a whole collection of clothes ranging from Tuxedos to funky t-shirts and I hope to expand his collection. I am going to Japan in Sept and I hope to be able to find nice and cute clothes for boy boy.

This photo was taken on Hammer's birthday last year. Hammer was on the right and Owen, his brother from the same litter, was on the left. The birthday cake and party food was bought from US Doggie Bakery. Owen lives in a shop called Pet Shangri-la in Sembawang (16 Jalan Tampang, behind the S11 food court, opposite the former Sembawang Shopping Centre). Pet Shangri-la is the only place Hammer goes to for his regular grooming.

This is a photo of Hammer and Ashton, Hammer's favourite groomer. He loves her and is very excited everytime he goes to her shop as it would mean Play-Time! Hammer will play with all his friends at the shop before his turn to be shaved, bathed, scrubbed, blown and combed dry.
